Recall the Meta Quest Pro headset that was launched last year in October with several innovative features that allow users to:

With world-class counterbalanced ergonomics and a sleek design that lets one wear the headset for long in premium comfort, alongside a High-resolution mixed reality passthrough that uses full-color sensors to let you see and engage with the physical world around you, even as you connect, work and play in virtual spaces is still not enough for Meta to stop there as they collaborate with LG to build on these features for the release of a new quest pro headset.
Initially, it was taught that LG’s involvement would only help build and design the headset, but new reports from the South Korean news outlet “Maeil Business Newspaper” have disclosed that LG will contribute a whole lot more than we thought.
According to the report, Meta is collaborating with several subsidiaries of LG – LG Display will be in charge of the screen, LG Energy will be providing the battery, LG Innotek will be manufacturing other components, and LG Electronics will actually be building the headsets.
The first product from this collaboration is expected to be available in 2025, with a price tag of around $2,000 (₦184,0000), compared to Apple’s Vision Pro which is priced at $3,500 (₦2,639,595) according to today’s currency exchange rate, scheduled to be launched in 2024. It has been rumored that the new Meta Quest Pro Flamera headset will rival Apple’s Vision Pro headset due to the advantage of Passthrough.
Passthrough empowers augmented reality applications like home design, fashion, and interactive learning, use cases that involve some degree of real-world spatial awareness, and a whole lot of computational processing for image simulation.
The Question on everybody’s mind is will the Meta Quest Pro headset share the name with LG? Because of LG’s fair amount of input into the entire process, it will be hard not to see the South Korean company’s name all over it.
